The Gentle Barre Project

A gentle, sensory-aware approach to ballet.

About

The Gentle Barre Project is a small, intentional ballet program designed for neurodivergent children and individuals with diverse learning styles.Rooted in classical ballet technique and informed by behavioral science, the program offers a calm, structured, and supportive environment where students can explore movement, coordination, emotional regulation, and creative expression at their own pace.Every class is led by the instructor alongside a trained aide with professional experience supporting children with special needs, ensuring additional guidance, safety, and individualized attention throughout each session.Classes are intentionally kept small to promote predictability, emotional safety, and meaningful engagement. Each session balances gentle structure with flexibility, meeting students exactly where they are while encouraging confidence, body awareness, and joy through movement. The Gentle Barre Project exists at the intersection of enrichment and support, offering an artistic outlet that complements — but does not replace — therapeutic or educational services.Schedule: Saturdays, 1:00pm-1:45pm
Age Range: Generally ages 4-10, but accommodations can be discussed
Class Size: Limited to 8 children
Instructor: Emilia Grillasca — behavior therapist + classical ballet teacher
